ANTHONIAN INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2019

ANTHONIAN INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2019

The Bible says in the book of Proverbs: “without wise leadership the nation is in trouble.”
St. Anthony’s High School celebrated the highest level of leadership among the students by conducting the Investiture Ceremony 2019 on 21st January.  This auspicious day marked one of the most significant events of the institution’s annual calendar, where students from classes 11, 10 and 9 were invested with portfolios of student office bearers.  The programme began with the Holy Mass presided over by His Grace Archbishop Thomas D’Souza, Fr. B.L.Mathai, Headmaster of St. Anthony’s High School, Fr. John Soren, Asst. Headmaster, Fr. Soosai Manickam, Fr. Neethi Das, Fr. Gnana Peppin and Fr. Michael Biswas. All the reverend priests then participated in the ceremonial blessing of the school as the Anthonian School choir melodiously chanted the hymn – “On this School your blessing Lord”.

The investiture began with the march past of the chief office bearers of the academic session that concluded recently.  “The old order changeth yielding place to the new" said Lord Tennyson. The former School Captain Stephen Alam handed over the school flag to Shreyanksh Saha, the newly appointed School Captain, the former school Vice – Captain, Rohan Singh to Charles Akash Bar and the former Games Secretary, Satyajit Barua to Rahul Rao.  The office bearers of the four houses – namely Dragon, Unicorn, Griffin and Phoenix received their insignia from the Headmaster and the respective house representatives.  The portals of the great institution then echoed with solemn oath of office whereby the student leaders pledged to “serve our school with responsibility and loyalty.”

This was followed by the unveiling of the pure silver trophy of Oratio – the grand inter school Elocution contest hosted by St. Anthony’s High School.  The trophy has been sponsored by Mr. Murli Punjabi – an alumnus of this very institution.  Md. Sabir an Anthonian of class 9 was the first proud recipient of the impressive trophy.

The motto of St. Anthony’s High School is “Fortitudo” – developing moral bravery, courage and physical strength.  The “Fortitudo Award" was presented to Safwan Ahmed Aziz of Class 12 for his committed service to the school.

At the short get-together of the priests and teachers in the Camille Limbourg Audiorium, his Grace Archbishop Thomas D’Souza congratulated the Anthonians for planning and executing the investiture ceremony as meticulously and smoothly as a synchronized orchestra.
