THE ANTHONIAN ANNUAL FUN FIESTA 2015

The Annual Fun Fiesta of the year 2015 was held with the enthusiasm and fanfare associated with the event every year. Fr. Dominic Gomes, Vicar General of Kolkata Archdiocese, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He inaugurated the Fete and addressed the students and teachers present there in a very encouraging manner. The Headmaster, Fr. Devraj Fernandes, and  Asst. Headmaster, Fr. Siluvai Pitchai, were accompanied by Mrs. Angelina Mantosh Jasnani, a benefactor of the institution. The dignitaries went around trying their luck at various stalls that hosted games of skill and of fortune. Many new games were added this year to enhance the attraction of the event. 



 

 

THE INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2015


The Investiture Ceremony for the new student office bearers for the academic session 2015 was held with traditional aplomb on Friday 16th January at the school ground. The entire student body of the Secondary School was assembled to witness the event.






The Chief Guest for the occasion was the Archbishop of Kolkata Diocese His Grace Thomas D’Souza. His annual presence on the solemn occasion attaches a certain gravitas to the event that is irreplaceable. He was accompanied by Rev. Fr. Moloy D’Costa, Inspector of Diocesan Schools and ex- student of the institution. A solemn Mass was celebrated by them in the company of the Headmaster, Fr. Devraj Fernandes and Asst. Headmaster, Fr. Siluvai Pitchai. The school was blessed by His Grace after the Mass was concluded.




The Investiture Ceremony began with a march past by the outgoing Captains and Vice Captains who later handed over the flags and badges to the present office bearers. First and Second Monitors of all secondary classes were also invested on the occasion.

St. Anthony's High School celebrated the Investiture Ceremony of Captains, Vice-Captains, Secretaries, Volunteers and Monitors for the year 2015 on 16th January 2015. The event was presided over by the Archbishop Thomas D'Souza

TEENAGERS EXPRESS THEMSELVES IN ORATIO 2014

St. Anthony’s High School hosted the third edition of its signature event Oratio, the Inter-School Elocution Competition 2014, at Father Camille Limbourg Auditorium. Like preceding years this year too the event found an overwhelming participation response from the city schools.Students from fifteen schools participated in this year’s event showcasing their oratorical skills. The schools, apart from the host school, were St. Xavier’s Collegiate School, St. James School, Loreto Day School (Eliot Road), Grace Ling Liang School, St. Mary’s School, St. Joseph’s College, Union Chapel School, St. Paul’s Mission School, St. Aloysius Day School, La Martiniere for Girls, Birla High School, Apeejay School, The Park English School and Calcutta Boys’ School.

Eminent Bengali poet and Sahitya Akademi Award winner (2013) Dr. Subodh Sarkar inaugurated the event. In his speech Dr. Sarkar expressed his admiration for the discipline shown by the students of the school. It was followed by a prayer dance performed by the students of the host school. The topic of the elocution competition was LIVING AS A TEENAGER IN THE 21ST CENTURY, which gave tremendous scope for the students to express their views. The event was sponsored by Mr. Murli Punjabi (ex-student) with OUP being the co-sponsor.

Once the competition started students from various schools spoke eloquently on the topic. The judges, Dr. Siddhartha Biswas (Dean of Post Graduate Studies, St. Paul’s Cathedral Mission College), Dr. Rangana Banerji (Assistant Professor of English, Calcutta University) and Dr. Subhadeep Paul (Assistant Professor of English, Maulana Azad College), had a tough time deciding the winner.

Finally when the results were declared the first prize went to Kanishk Gomes of St. Xavier’s Collegiate School. In the second position there was a tie between Nabhonil Chatterji of Birla High School and Toushif Akram of St. Anthony’s High School. The third prize was won by Manushri Kanoria of La Martiniere for Girls. The Championship trophy went to La Martiniere for Girls.The Headmaster, Fr. Devraj Fernandes, expressed his thanks to all the guests, judges, sponsors, teachers, students, participant schools and well-wishers for making the event a grand success.

FAREWELL TO THE BATCH OF 2014

A heartfelt farewell was accorded to the students of the Madhyamik Pariksha Batch of 2014 on Friday, 7th February in the school Basketball Ground by the Headmaster, Staff and Students of St. Anthony’s High School. The outgoing students came impeccably dressed as dashing young men ready to make their place in the world outside the confines of the school. The programme began with a photo session of the students accompanied by their signing a special “slam book” to commemorate the occasion. They were then escorted into the school ground that was tastefully decorated by the present students of class 10. Each item of the program was introduced by the
teachers, who took the opportunity to give a parting message to the boys they had nurtured for so many years with love and care. The Assistant Headmaster, Fr. Siluvai Pitchai, stressed the need for discipline in life and the Headmaster, Fr. Devraj Fernandes, eloquently wished them all success and glory in their future lives. The present school captain, Nathan Astle Spirito, and Vice Captain, Md. Wais Ansari, also delivered their farewell messages as did the outgoing Captain, Tabish Raza and Vice Captain, Aadil Ahmed. Meaningful songs and dances were prepared by the students for the occasion. The program was followed by a meal specially organised by the Headmaster.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY 2014



The Investiture Ceremony for the captains, vice captains, secretaries, volunteers and monitors for the academic year 2014 was held at the school grounds on 16th January in a solemn manner. Renewing the charter of the school's hoary tradition the student office bearers were invested with their badges by His Grace Archbishop Thomas D'Souza. The day's celebration began with the Holy Mass con-celebrated by the Archbishop, Fr. Anthony Paul, the school Headmaster Fr. DEVRAJ FERNANDES and the Assistant Headmaster Fr. Siluvai Pitchai. Students of secondary school were present on the occasion. The school was blessed by the Archbishop after the conclusion of the mass. His Grace Archbishop Thomas D'Souza addressed the students and staff and stressed the need for unselfish and true leaders.  He also congratulated the teachers for their role in shaping the best leaders of the future. The headmaster reiterated the importance of dedicated service.
